Andrew Hazewinkel

Andrew Hazewinkel, born in Melbourne, now lives in Athens. He works with sculpture, photography, moving image and collection engagement practices. Across all mediums he combines a finely crafted aesthetic with a visual language of rupture; fusing the iconic and the aniconic he plays with enigma and paradox to release the mysterious force of the cut. The objects and images that he creates and configures engage the histories of figuration, drawing out embodied tensions between broken figurative sculpture, our own soft ephemeral bodies and the ghosts that dwell within them.
